These courses are for advanced students. All new students must pass the placement
test before they register. Please note that the workshop offerings

Workshop for Advanced Students (2

workshop is for students who already speak English very well, but
want to improve their skills in writing and review English grammar.
Students will review problem areas in English grammar and practice
writing simple compositions, letters, reports and memos. In addition,
students will learn how to locate their own mistakes and correct
them.

Intermediate Students

workshop is for students who can speak English well, but who have
difficulty writing English. Students will learn about spelling,
punctuation, sentence structure, paragraph development and essay
organization. They will also learn how to find their own errors
and correct them.

Grammar Workshop

This course is for advanced students who speak
English very well, but who want a comprehensive review of English
grammar. Students will analyze spoken and written English to become
familiar with the advanced structures of the language. They will
also receive intensive practice in using these structures through
a variety of exercises. The goal of this course is to improve students'
ability to communicate by helping them to understand how grammar
communicates meaning.

Listening and Speaking Skills through the Media

This course is for advanced students who want to improve
their listening and speaking skills and expand their vocabulary. Class
materials will include public commentary programs on a variety
of current topics from radio and TV. Students will learn
to discuss issues, support opinions, work on relevant grammar,
broaden their vocabulary and write summaries. Through
these activities students will expand their awareness of current
issues as well as gain more confidence in expressing themselves
in English.
