Allen MacLean, Helping Students as a Language Clinic Tutor
Since 2005, Mr. MacLean has been a conversation leader or a writing tutor for the Language Clinic. He spent 30 years as a minister for The United Church of Christ. Mr. MacLean says while he was there “my churches became more multicultural.” That change fostered his interest in learning about other people and their cultures.

Helping people was his devotion as a minister, and the Language Clinic allows him to continue helping during his retirement. He learns all his students’ names, backgrounds, and interests. Working with a small group allows him to show respect for his students’ individual value. Finally, Mr. MacLean takes great pleasure in his time with TELC students. “They are so motivated and appreciative.” He looks forward to his time at the Language Clinic and his students look forward to seeing him, too.
